All of us have specific goals that we would love to accomplish in our lifetime, and achieving these goals can be a challenging task, but it can also be a very rewarding experience. Whether they are long-term or short-term goals, I will share the best disciplinary practices you can implement to accomplish anything you want. I will be sharing this from personal experience, and you do not have to follow everything I did/do, but I hope you can draw some inspiration from it.
1. Be A Dreamer
Since childhood, I have loved music and have been singing for as long as I can remember. To this day, I have recorded and released some songs, and I continue to have a passion for music, recording and releasing music as often as I can. However, as an upcoming musician, you can be made fun of for trying to pursue something that others might not see you as. Many people simply know me as a blogger, and others probably have their own opinions of who I am, so my pursuing a career or honing a gift I have can sometimes be seen as a joke.
Now the question is, do I give up on my childhood dreams because of how life turned out and how people perceive me, or do I keep trying? I am a young man in his twenties and I have accomplished some of the goals I set for myself such as creating blogs like this one. I still have room and time to pursue all my other goals as well as room to make mistakes and learn from them.
So you too need to implement a similar mindset, and be a dreamer, what goals do you want to achieve in a specific time frame? Do you want to become a web developer, content creator, lawyer, doctor, musician etc? Then keep at it. If you are in school studying for that degree then keep going as hard as it is, you will be where you want to be in due time. Think of the money you can make, the lives you can change and the things you can improve in your community. Joseph the son of Jacob had dreams and his brothers made fun of him but if you know the Bible then you know that those dreams came true.
2. Stay Positive and Focused
The Bible says we should not worry about anything but rather we should pray about everything (Philippians 4:6). In Matthew 6:33-34, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, says that we should seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness and everything else will be added in our lives. In the same scripture, Christ says that we should not worry about tomorrow because today’s trouble is enough to endure.
When I started my journey as a blogger, I was not a Christian, I was just a 17-year-old with the dream of creating a successful business and having a successful career in music and success in other areas too. I did not have that much hope I just labelled everything as “just for fun” because I did not believe I would make it far. When I came to Christ, I was given hope and faith that I cannot describe that has kept me going to this day, being empowered by the Holy Spirit to do much more than I could achieve.
However, the journey had its challenges, such as walking incredibly long distances every day just to find money for food and data for online work. I wore torn shoes and would go the whole day without eating, travelling the same long distances even at night just to get home because I couldn’t afford to board a taxi for just $1 per day. Despite all the pain and tears, I trusted in God and kept faith that the days ahead would be very different.
I trusted in God and rejoiced even when things did not make sense and God came through by His power, showing that He truly works even in our weaknesses.
3. Think Of Others
One of my biggest motivators to accomplish any of my goals has been to take care of and help others, such as my friends, family, and anyone I can assist. Even with the creation of my blogs, my goal has been to help people as much as I can. Whether it’s to help you grow in your faith, stay entertained, or achieve your career goals, I have aimed to do so and still intend to help in many other ways, if the Lord is willing.
Think of the change you could bring to your family, friends, and many others with your accomplishments. Money can indeed change many circumstances, and you need to seek it not just for yourself but for the betterment of others (not idolising it). Having a selfless mindset can help you stay motivated and positive, as point two of this article states. Do it for the family you have and the one you want to have. Good things take time, and you can achieve them as long as you remember these three things and learn from others.
I hope this article is helpful and I pray that you will accomplish all that you seek to do in this life. Thank you for reading, stay motivated and remember that God loves you!
